After several years of driving truck
for himself, in 1945 John H. Yourga began his trucking operation
with one dump truck. Upon purchasing his second truck, he
also became a G.M.C. dealer. This was the means by which he
was able to create Yourga Trucking, Inc. as it operates today.
Knowing the business from the ground up gave John a head start at
satisfying his customers. Yourga Trucking continues to perform
with the highest standards to get the job done. A fleet of
company-owned state-of-the-art equipment and company employed drivers
enables Yourga Trucking to be a competitive and dependable means
of shipping your products.
Over the year John managed to acquire
25 acres of land in Wheatland, Pennsylvania, for the construction
of the Yourga Trucking terminal. In May of 1985, a devastating
tornado destroyed everything on the 25 acres; all the John had worked
forty years to create.
He was determined that nothing would
stop him or his business. The next day, with the help of his
family, friends, and employees, he set to work rebuilding.
Via a temporary location, the dedication and commitment to his company,
family and employees, it took him only six months to rebuild this
terminal.
When John suddenly died in March of
1987, ownership of the business passed to his daughters Beverly
and Daphne. His son-in-law Bob Churko, became president and
continued to serve in that capacity until his death in 1993.
Today, Beverly and Daphne remain in the company's top executive
positions. Their children (John's grandchildren) were raised
in the trucking industry and are all actively involved in the company.
Together, the family strives to maintain the tradition of pride
and performance that John established over five decades ago.
